Building Leaders Through Adventure – The Story of Scouting in Singapore

Scouting in Singapore is part of the Boy Scouts of America’s Far East Council (FEC), which supports Scouts across Asia. Through the FEC, Scouts in Singapore enjoy the same program, values, and advancement opportunities as Scouts in the United States, while also taking advantage of the unique cultural and outdoor opportunities of Southeast Asia.

Families who join Scouting here quickly discover the benefits of being part of a vibrant, international community. Troops and Packs in Singapore regularly camp, hike, and explore the outdoors locally, but also have opportunities to travel for regional and international adventures. Scouts in Singapore learn the same skills as their peers back home—leadership, citizenship, service, and outdoor skills—while also gaining valuable experiences living abroad.

Cub Scouts
and Scouts BSA

The Scouting program is divided into two main groups:

  • Cub Scouts (ages 5–10): A family-centered program filled with fun activities such as games, crafts, camping, and community service. Cub Scouts progress through age-based ranks, building character and teamwork along the way.
  • Scouts BSA (ages 11–17): A youth-led program focused on leadership, service, and adventure. Scouts plan their own activities, take part in camping and high-adventure trips, and work toward Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
Frequently Asked Questions

How to Volunteer

Thinking about helping with Cub Scouts? The official “How to Volunteer” page explains that there’s a role for every caring adult—start by asking pack leaders how you can help or completing a quick Family Talent Survey, then take the next step by registering as an adult volunteer, which includes an application, Youth Protection Training, and pack approval; leaders also take role-specific training to deliver a safe, meaningful program.

Why Scouting Matters

Since its founding in 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has helped prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law. In Singapore, Scouting builds on that legacy, offering youth opportunities to try new things, serve others, and grow into leaders with confidence and character.
